Meet your Officer Team

Updated: Feb 1, 2020

Just like the student government has a group of officers that lead the team, the WTAMU Equestrian Team has one aswell.

This select group of induvials is elected by their team and coaches to serve as leaders for the team. The officer team is responsible for communicating their teams' concerns with their coaches and vise-versa.

There five different postitions, each coming with a different set of responsibilities.

Meet your captains,

Kendall Woellmer is the Western Captain for this year. Woellmer is a senior from Sedona, Arizona and is finishing up her studies in Agricultural Media and Communications. Members of the team describe Woellmer as a very humble competitor. Woellmer encourages the team to participate in community outreach. She is always "looking for ways to serve our

community and bond outside of the barn". Woellmer is excited to be this years captain and make this a successful year for the team.

Karis Blankenship is this year's Hunt-Seat Captain. She is a senior from Houston, Texas who transferred to WT her sophomore year from Texas A&M Commerce. Blankenship has a love for animals and is studying Animal Science to become a vet one day. She is described as a great role model by members of the team. "I have learned so much about leading this team and I love to be able to share what I have taken away from this team over the years" Blankenship said.

Treasurer

Jordan Schneider is a Senior from Austin Texas studying Animal Science. She is this years treasurer and handles the financial aspect for the team and coaches. Schneider does things like collect and organize entry fees from riders. She enjoys being a leader for her team and watching her team grow. “Everyone has this ambition to be the best that they can provide for our team [which] makes it easier for our team to be the great leaders that we are” Schenider said.

Secretary

Rea Golt is this years secretary. She is a sophomore from Houston Texas studying Equine Industry and Business. As a secretary Golt stands as a record keeper for Coach Ellis, she records points for the whole region and writes press releases for the shows. Golt said that she doesn’t mind the office work. “[Being secretary] means a lot to me because I am able to give back to my team and help lead the new teammates”. Golt rides in both beginner western and pre novice hunt-seat events and likes to provide insight to the less experienced riders on her team.

Media Representative

I, Klarissa Barley am the media representative for 2019-2020 season. I am a junior studying mass media communication from Thousand Oaks, California. As the media representative I am constantly creating social media announcements for the team. I love being the media representative because I get to apply what in learning in my mass media classes to the team. My goal is the increase the team's following so people are more aware of the team's amazing accomplishments.
